As part of his massive reforestation drive, 2023 Rolex Awards Laureate Constantino Aucca Chutas has mobilized thousands of people from villages throughout the Andes. His community-based programmes have been responsible for planting 4.5 million native trees in the mountains of his homeland, Peru. Through his second non-governmental organization, Acción Andina, he is spreading this momentum internationally, reforesting the Andes in the hopes of preserving the mountain ecosystems of the region.
